Day 143


Back on Day 119
I posted Spezzatino di Manzo al Cioccolato:
Beef Stew with Chocolate.
This is another version made with red wine
also by David Rocco.
As much as I love red wine.....
I think I like the chocolate one a bit better.

BEEF BRAISED IN CHIANTI
Pour 1/2 cup olive Oil into a stew pot
Add
2 pounds stewing Beef, cut into 1 inch cubes
1 red Onion roughly chopped
3 Garlic cloves, chopped
Sear for about 2 minutes
Add 3 cups Chianti (it should cover the beef)
Add Salt and Pepper
Bring to a boil
Then simmer gently about 2 hours

I also threw in a couple springs of fresh thyme.
I should have let it cook a bit longer ( I was in a rush)
and it seemed a bit salty to me.
